I have been involved in Motorsports since 2002 at the age of seven years old. Like many of you, I got the itch to drive when I was young and was lucky enough to have parents who opened their wallets as much as they could to take me along this journey.
It soon became evident to us how expensive this sport is and that in order for me to reach my goals in racing, we were going to need to generate funds.
I have been involved in Motorsports since 2002 at the age of seven years old. Like many of you, I got the itch to drive when I was young and was lucky enough to have parents who opened their wallets as much as they could to take me along this journey.
It soon became evident to us how expensive this sport is and that in order for me to reach my goals in racing, we were going to need to generate funds. With guidance from my parents, one of the ways we generated funds was through coaching. Since I was 10 years old, I have been coaching and have since coached almost a thousand different drivers with wildly varying backgrounds, skill levels, and ambitions.
But most of the framework of my methodology and this course came after the end of my racing career when I went to engineering school.
Learning about engineering and vehicle dynamics made me realize all the information I was missing during my racing career and how useful it would have been to me back then. Understanding how the car works would have allowed me to change my driving to suit the different cars I drove and I have since utilized these principles to coach my drivers.
Once I got the vehicle dynamics sorted, I turned to understanding the most important part of the equation: the driver’s mindset. I call it: engineering the driver. It is a common observation in Motorsport that the mental game is the #1 thing keeping drivers from reaching the lap time potential. In the pursuit of solving this problem, I have dedicated thousands of hours to attending seminars, reading books, and learning from the best of the best in this field so that I may incorporate principles of performance psychology into my methodology.
The pursuit of anything and everything that makes the car/driver combination go faster around the track has led me to create a unique methodology that I do not see anyone else teaching. Most (not all) driver coaches are like me before I attended engineering school: using only their own and others’ experience in a race car to teach others without ever asking things like “why?” or “how much?” certain principles affect the performance.
In my methodology, driving technique is only about 15% of what makes a champion race car driver. And in this course, I am going to teach you 100% of the formula.
