Meet the Chief Connector
Gordon Szerlip
“Knocking around the internet one day, I come across “The Sporkful with Dan Pashman”, recognized as the “Best Food Podcast” by the James Beard Awards and others. Dan had decided to create a new pasta shape and documented his journey in 6 installments (all of which I enjoyed). Dan’s result is the “Cascatelli” (from ‘cascata’, the Italian word for waterfall), and it’s produced by Sfoglini, an artesan pasta company. After a 3 month wait, I finally got my hands on a box.
“Then I found a recipe created by Washington Post writer Daniela Galarza called “Cascatelli with Green Olives, Calabrian Chiles and Lemony Tuna”. Immediately I invited my kids for dinner to try this new pasta shape–a reason for them to take an evening out of their busy schedules to spend some time with their Dad and oh yeah…eat something new! After two very friendly bottle of Montepulciano d’Abruzzo and refilled bowls of pasta, some incredibly special family time was enjoyed by us all.
“This only happened because I was curious and got interest-ed in something new. I think my curiosity made me more interesting to other people (in this case, my kids) and inspired them to connect with me. This is what e-VOLV Senior Connections is all about. We’re collecting in one place all the activities and programs online that you might have been curious about for years, or simply interested in.
"Checking them out will make you more interesting to others … and new connections will be born. “Through a full career in finance and now my work connecting with seniors, I’ve found that what I work hardest at is to always be curious and “interested”. Won’t you join me at e-VOLV Senior Connections and become expert at both?”
